emmageddon

I have used this page to give you a little more info on the history of the site and how I became a collector,  how to contact me if you have any queries, and some info on how I buy merchandise. I hope this is of use and thank you once again for taking the time to view my collection.

Disclaimer

Please note, no items on the site are for sale.  Any requests to buy items will be ignored.  Also I do not accept unsolicited attempts to sell me items.  I buy through eBay, Eil, Amazon and other known music memorabilia retail sites and stores.  If you have an auction on eBay and I am interested in it, I will find it.  I use these places because I want to protect myself as a buyer and protect you the seller.  I have a 100% reputation on eBay and work hard to be a buyer that seller’s are happy to see again and again.  Buyer protections are at these places for a reason.  So with politeness, telling me you have an item for sale will be ignored.  Sorry.

Please also note, no music or videos will be uploaded.  All the content loaded on the site are images taken from my personal collection and are purely uploaded to showcase this collection. The only image that is not from my own collection is the header image.  This is a self portrait by Marilyn Manson and has been manipulated to make the header for the site.  No copyright infringement is intended.

The site also runs adverts via Google Adsense.  Please go to Privacy Policy to find out what this means for you in terms of your browsing privacy.

If you would like to ask me about my collection, please feel free to contact me, either by leaving a comment on the page where the item you want to know about is through the Livefyre comment system  by sending me a message on twitter @emmageddon, or via my Facebook Fan Page.

I also operate a Link Exchange on the site – I have added all the sites I previously had sitting in my blog roll – feel free to add yours and a recipricol link, though not mandatory, would be very much appreciated.

Why I Collect and Site History

So how did you start collecting? It’s amazing how you suddenly realize you have gone from just buying to becoming a collector. I have been a fan of Marilyn Manson since 1997 when I first heard The Beautiful People on the radio. Over the years I have been buying up albums and singles and tees.

A couple of years ago on one of the Manson forums, someone asked me what I had in my collection.  By the time I had finished cataloging it all I realized that my collection was over 100 items.  I decided at that point to take the collection more seriously and to showcase the collection.

So how did the site come along? Well over the years I have been watching other fans collections, and seeing their sites develop.  This includes’ Norsefire, who is one of the owners of Provider Module, Frau Dietrich’s, Absinthe Bunny and of course the venerable Archdandy.  I decided that with the interest that was shown at the time, I would also put a site together.

But why the name Emmageddon? Well this was a play on words name that my good friend S.D. who co-owns Provider Module came up with as a form of jest and banter, and plays on Marilyn Manson’s single Arma-goddamm-motherfuckin-geddon. As S.D. said:

“What originated as a personal joke (not at the expense of, but in homage to) regarding the heated debates occasionally entered into by my friend and former owner of Provider Module, Emma, has now been realised as a genuine location for showcasing her vast Marilyn Manson collection of paraphernalia and memorablia. I was humbled my phrase was used in this manner, and look forward, as a fellow collector, to seeing the page develop with all of her goods.”

Didn’t you start this a couple of years ago? Yes. This site is has been in development for two years.  When I originally brought the domain I was working on it as a Div/CSS driven site and then I began putting it together on a WordPress running platform.  However over 2010, the site was put on hold for a number of reasons, namely planning my wedding (08/10) and working on projects including the new Piggy D site, the new John 5 site, and the new Tommy Clufetos site.

Despite an attempt at the end of 2010 to finish the site again other projects came in the way but I renewed the domain and decided that by hook or by crook I would develop the site.  So at the end of February 2011 I again came back to the site.  Over a few days I had changed out the template to use Graph Paper Press’ Modularity Lite Theme, redesigned the background and the header, this time going on a darker, simplistic but interesting look, using as a primary, a weathered leather wallpaper look.  I installed the Intense Debate which allows you to comment using a WordPress.com, Twitter or Facebook Account (via Facebook Connect).  I also had a new look at the galleries on each era page and installed a plugin that would allow me to have a more pleasing looking gallery for each section.  On top of that I installed Network Publisher which allows me to update any network I link the site to whenever changes, new posts etc are made.  At the moment this is linked into my Twitter account for Emmageddon, and a newly constructed Facebook Fan Page.

The site goes live in the Spring of 2011 – honest!.

I sincerley hope you enjoy the site.
